About the conference:

The main theme of the GMDS Annual Conference 2019 is "Shaping Change - Creative Solutions for Innovative Medicine" and aims to actively shape the future in a joint dialogue between research and practice. In times of digitalization, in which changes can be resolved more quickly, cooperation in medicine and healthcare is becoming increasingly important. The GMDS, with its multitude of disciplines, stands like no other professional association for exchange and cooperation across professional and sector boundaries.

According to the motto, the 64th Annual Conference will take place in Germany's largest metropolitan area, the Ruhr area. The region, formerly dominated by heavy industry, has already undergone extensive changes and therefore makes change an active experience: Bochum, Bottrop, Dortmund, Duisburg, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Hagen, Hamm, Herne, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Oberhausen and the surrounding districts are areas where universities, research institutions, clinics and health management organisations are located in a quite small region. This diversity and proximity is characteristic for the region and offers a unique setting for discussion, professional exchange and networking. The venue for the GMDS Annual Conference 2019 is the Dortmund University of Applied Science. Emerging from the "Königlichen Werkmeisterschule für Maschinenbauer", opened in 1890 and officially founded in 1971, it is today a modern university with a long tradition in medical informatics.

Important NOTE:

Immediately after the GMDS Annual Meeting, the Annual Meeting of the Medical Informatics Initiative will take place from 11th to 12th September in the same premises.
